Restoration Planning in the Maacama Creek Watershed
The Sotoyome RCD is working with local conservation organizations to convene a Maacama Creek Watershed Restoration Planning Committee that will strategically plan and prioritize conservation and habitat enhancement opportunities at the watershed scale. If you are a landowner in the Maacama Creek watershed interested in conservation and restoration planning, please contact Sierra Cantor at 569-1448 ext. 107.

The Maacama Creek Watershed Assessment reviews monitoring information including water quality and temperature developed for the Maacama Creek watershed over the 1999 to 2004 period. The assessment also evaluates erosion and sources of fine sediment in the watershed, the current and historic condition of creek channels, the historic and current condition of watershed vegetation and clearing, the extent of riparian forest, and land uses.

Sotoyome RCD is participating in a cooperative effort to restore and enhance salmonid habitat in the Russian River. These efforts are being spearheaded by the Salmonid Coalition, whose mission is to: ". . . protect and enhance existing habitat, and to restore historic habitat to promote the recovery and maintenance of Salmonid fish populations in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Knights Valleys of the Russian River Watershed . . ."
