JOB OPPORTUNITY

POSITION: 2 Field Technicians
The Sotoyome Resource Conservation District (SRCD) is recruiting field personnel for the 2003 summer season. These are temporary, seasonal employees to assist in the collection of stream data primarily within the Gualala River watershed.

SRCD BACKGROUND:
The Sotoyome Resource Conservation District has been in existence since 1952. Resource Conservation Districts were established nationwide by an act of Congress to facilitate resource conservation at the local level. The RCD works with the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to provide technical assistance to help landowners and resource users develop locally driven solutions to address a broad range of natural resource concerns, including watershed management and protection of water quality. We help land users and communities approach conservation planning and application of how natural resources relate to each other and to all of us and how our activities affect those resources. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Status: These positions are temporary, seasonal status; beginning approx. June 23, 2003 and ending approx September 2003. Average of 32 hours weekly.

Rates: Hourly at $13.00 per hour

Benefits: The status of the position is temporary, seasonal and is not eligible for full benefits. Basic benefits required by law such as worker's comp and social security will be provided.

Start Date: Approx. June 23, 2003

Work location: Field Technicians maybe needed to work in various locations within the SRCD boundaries. The boundaries include the Russian and Gualala River watersheds. The primary focus for data collection this season will be in the Gualala River watershed. Technicians working in the Gualala River basin will be based during the work week in the town of Gualala. Lodging will be provided.

Tasks: Field Technicians will be assisting in data collection for the SRCD stream monitoring programs. Specific Quality Assurance Project Plan training will be provided. Data collection shall include following a variety of protocols including:
